App Offline Support Guide

Connectivity is not a given. A labour camp with weak signal, an international flight, an expensive roaming plan — offline support exists for those moments.

1. What offline mode actually does

The app stores the rates from your last successful update on the device. When you open it without a connection, those cached rates are shown along with a timestamp telling you when they were fetched.

The timestamp is the important part. A rate without a date invites you to act on stale information.

3. When a cached rate is good enough

Pegged currencies — SAR, AED, QAR, OMR, BHD. Fixed to the US dollar and barely move. A rate from yesterday is usually fine for a rough calculation.
Floating currencies — GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD, MYR. These move every trading day. A cached rate from several days ago can be meaningfully wrong.

4. The rule that matters

Never complete an actual transfer based on an offline rate. Use cached figures to plan. Before handing over money, reconnect, refresh, and confirm with the bank or exchange house. Their rate at the moment of the transaction is the one that counts.

5. Keeping the cache fresh

Open the app once on Wi-Fi before travelling.
Let it finish loading so the update is stored.
Check the timestamp when you next open it offline.
If it is more than a day or two old and you earn in a floating currency, treat the figure as a rough guide only.
