About Today Taka Rate
Today Taka Rate exists for one reason: expatriate Bangladeshis deserve to know exactly what their money is worth before they send it home.
What we do
We publish live bank exchange rates for the currencies that matter most to Bangladeshi workers abroad — the Saudi riyal, UAE dirham, Kuwaiti dinar, Qatari riyal, Omani rial, Bahraini dinar, Malaysian ringgit, Singapore dollar, US dollar, British pound, euro and Canadian dollar — alongside plain-language guides on remittance, government incentives and banking rules.
Why it matters
Around ten million Bangladeshis work overseas. The money they send is the country's largest source of foreign currency. Yet the rules around it — which bank rate applies, how the 2.5% incentive works, what documentation is needed — are scattered and often explained badly. We try to put the answers in one place, in both Bangla and English.
How we work
- We cite our sources. Where a figure comes from Bangladesh Bank, a central bank, or a government budget, we say so.
- We correct what we get wrong. Policies change — the crawling peg, for instance, ended in May 2025, and plenty of sites still describe it as current. We update.
- We do not invent numbers. If we cannot verify a fee or a limit, we tell you to confirm it with your bank rather than guessing.
- We are not a financial adviser. We publish information; decisions about your money are yours.
What we are not
We are not a bank, an exchange house, or a money transfer service. We do not handle your money and we never ask for account details. If any site or person claims to be us and asks for your banking credentials, it is not us.
